N.B. Sharing
is an initiative designed to supplement the
food available to the needy in New Brunswick, and at the same
time, to support the producers of New Brunswick food products.
It has been designed to be as simple as possible for the stores
to administer.
Coupons valued at $2.00 each are placed at the cash counters
of participating stores (Sobeys and Superstore) Customers have the opportunity at
the time of their purchases to donate to their local food
bank by having coupons scanned. These donations are accumulated
for a period of time, usually one month, and are credited
to the assigned Food Bank. Food Banks purchase food with these
coupons as they need it. This is a great incentive and a win/win
situation for everyone. A very easy way to support local Food
Banks.
Phones-for-Food program is a multi-partner, cross-sector,
environmental fundraiser of the Canadian Association of Food
Banks. The mission of the program is to alleviate hunger and
divert waste from landfill sites by raising funds for local food
banks through the process of recycling used printer cartridges
and
cell phones.
